The air temps are steadily rising and so are the water temps. The menhaden have arrive in droves. and with them, the big bull redfish have moved into the harbor for their summer spawn and the sharks were right on their heels. The Spanish and bluefish are around when the conditions are right and can be caught on top water plugs and gold spoons. The trout have been biting just ok this summer so far but better than expected after this winter's freeze. Make sure you find clean, moving water for the trout. The #1 tip I can give you for all of the summertime fish is to use the bait that the schools want, not just what is easiest for you to get. Catch menhaden, buy blue crabs, and have minnows or shrimp on the boat at all times. You do this and you'll have a great day of fishing. Don't take the lazy way out. You'll wind up drinking beer all day or at one of the bars on Shem Creek because you weren't catching anything. Or you could take the easiest way out and just call me! 843-364-1759. Cheers and best of luck. And remember, you can't catch em from the couch so get out there!
